Bray 2-2 Avoca

Bray ladies 2nds played Avoca at home in their last game of the season. Both teams were well matched and eager to secure a win. Bray were strong with great midfield play from Aisling Delahunty and Niamh Kenna-Daly. Avoca opened the scoring with a goal from a penalty corner. It didn't take Bray long to respond with a well worked goal through passes from Avril Burgess, Sinead Lenihan and Yani Scully-Lane with Helen Kingston taking an excellent shot on goal to score. Bray continued to attack through Vanessa Sumner, Rachel Kenna and Nikki Bell in defense. Bray were awarded a penalty corner, Caroline Kennedy took a superb shot from the top of the circle sending an unstoppable ball into the goal. The second half saw both teams continue to attack, Katie Burgess was very strong for Bray, sending good balls into the circle with Aoife Kenna and Aisling Delahunty coming close to scoring. Avoca scored a second goal from a penalty corner late in the second half. The final score was 2-2 leaving Bray finishing mid position in the league table. The ladies seconds were delighted to award Helen Kingston "Most Improved Player" and Nikki Bell "Player of the Year".
