Countdown to 20th Season begins!

In case you haven't heard, 2012/13 is our 20th season so let's celebrate! Got an idea ? Got an old photo? Know a piece of history? We are pulling together a working group and will fill you all in with the details soon but we hope to have a summerfest tournament, publish a club history book, go on tour at the end of summer (Galway/The Thatch are gone so Cork here we come?), have our biggest ever golf day and of course it's the return of the season end black tie ball!!

Bray 5-0 Wicklow

From the early stages of this encounter Bray dominated the game, posing serious threat any time they entered the opposition half so it was no surprise when Sean Brennan put the home side one nil up after 15 minutes. However instead of serving as a mark to push on from, Bray were found to be the side doing the defending until half time as Wicklow attempted to get back into the game, but between solid defending from the back four and the goalkeeping of Chris Doyle who would go on to make his 5th consecutive clean sheet, the hosts kept their county rivals at bay. The second half proved to be a different story as Bray made their fitness tell. Steven Jones scored from a short corner and Jerome Anglin followed with a penalty flick minutes shortly after to go three up and the game was truly ended as a contest with a superbly taken reverse stick shot from Cian Hussey and a diving finish from Jayson Kenney.

Bray 1-0 Pembroke


This game was an example of what the seconds can, yet have scarcely been able to do this season, putting in the sort of performance not befitting their lowly position in the table. Bray played hard from start to finish, emphasized by the play of David O'Brien who seemed to cover every inch of the field on Saturday afternoon. The one nil scoreline had more to do with the lack of clinical finishing up front than a lack of opportunities as Bray racked up seven short corners during the game as well a number of other opportunities inside the D but in the end they made their pressure and general dominance tell when Adam Moore scored with less than ten minutes to go. They would hold on to the lead and rightfully take the win their effort deserved and end a run which had seen them lose 4 in a row.

Ladies 2xi Div 8

Bray 2-2 Avoca

Bray ladies 2nds played Avoca at home in their last game of the season. Both teams were well matched and eager to secure a win. Bray were strong with great midfield play from Aisling Delahunty and Niamh Kenna-Daly. Avoca opened the scoring with a goal from a penalty corner. It didn't take Bray long to respond with a well worked goal through passes from Avril Burgess, Sinead Lenihan and Yani Scully-Lane with Helen Kingston taking an excellent shot on goal to score. Bray continued to attack through Vanessa Sumner, Rachel Kenna and Nikki Bell in defense. Bray were awarded a penalty corner, Caroline Kennedy took a superb shot from the top of the circle sending an unstoppable ball into the goal. The second half saw both teams continue to attack, Katie Burgess was very strong for Bray, sending good balls into the circle with Aoife Kenna and Aisling Delahunty coming close to scoring. Avoca scored a second goal from a penalty corner late in the second half. The final score was 2-2 leaving Bray finishing mid position in the league table. The ladies seconds were delighted to award Helen Kingston "Most Improved Player" and Nikki Bell "Player of the Year".

Rathgar 0-4 Bray Mens 1xi

The unseasonably warm weather should've slowed the visitors down but their relentless pace which has gathered over the last few matches continued here in what was a one sided game. Ahead inside 10 minutes thanks to a calm finish from Cian Hussey had Bray one up. Jayson Kenney followed that up with their second midway through the first half when he deflected a Stuart Collier strike past the 'keeper. The hosts were unable to match the pace set by their opponents and as the second half wore on, 2 more goals followed with Kenney bagging his second and Sean Brennan scoring yet again to tally 4 goals in his last 3 games. Bray should be delighted with the win but even more so with Chris Doyle's 3rd consecutive clean sheet, all positive signs as the business end of the season approaches.
